Reports are trickling in today of a change of ownership of the Fantasy and Science Fiction Society. According to our sources, an AGM was held today (23rd March) in which new members were elected to the committee. It is unknown at this time who initiated this change in management but it is clear that is was the will of the public as cheers were apparently heard throughout the Aras Na Mac Leinn as positions were announced.
Unfortunately the source of this information wishes to remain anonymous, however we did manage to get an interview with James (Grey) Rhys Lloyd-Jones, a former member of FanSci.

Hi all,

White smoke at last! At about 6pm yesterday (Wednesday 3rd November) the new server went live!

From now on you should expect reliable service from the server and no further downtime is envisaged. We need to work on a few small things today to tidy up some loose ends, but other than that the system is stable.

We've checked many of your sites and they all appear to be working fine. If however, any of you have problems with your site please contact us and we will try to help you in any way we can.

Thank you all for your patience during this time, its been a very trying period for both you and I as the level of downtime was completely unacceptable and I apologise for any annoyance or inconvenience caused.

Hi everyone,

This is just a quick email to let you know what's going on with ralph.nuigalway.ie in relation to your databases. The good news is that your databases are back online.

At about 1pm yesterday, the server ralph.nuigalway.ie crashed. At this stage, we're used to it crashing but on this occasion as it crashed it also caused a large number of databases to become corrupted. This meant that when we rebooted the server many of your databases were no longer available. The large number of database failures, also prevented from the database server from coming online which is why even those databases that were unaffected remained offline until now.

Hi all,

Current status:

I want to let you all know what the current status is with the server ralph.nuigalway.ie and how we intend to move forward. Incidentally, the server crashed at 18:08 (after ISS had gone home) and so that means it will be down over the weekend unfortunately.

Moving forward:

A new Dell Server has been ordered and according to the order information, the estimated time of delivery is the 4th of November. This new server will replace the current server and this will give us stability in the future. I will explain the technical reasons for the instability below (for anyone who is interested).

In the meantime, ISS have allocated me a old server they had so that I can transfer the existing websites onto that server to keep us going until such time as the new server arrives. I expect t...
